The 49ers have a great defense led by Patrick Willis, who is an absolute beast. They should have a productive offense with a ton of playmakers (Frank Gore, Vernon Davis, Michael Crabtree etc...). And don't sleep on Alex Smith. I get the feeling the dude will surprise a lot of people and silence a ton of his critics.

I have never been so excited to see football in September. Maybe it's because for the first time since '03 the Angels are playing essentially meaningless games in September. The Angels have looked uninterested since Kendry Morales went down in June and I stupidly held on, hoping for some kind of miracle that never came. I need to cut the cord on the '10 season, take a breather and come back in '11 to a hopefully improved roster (No Jeff Mathis or Juan Rivera! I can't stress this enough. Mathis in particular. He's so bad that I'm ready to sever ties with the Angels until they get rid of him. I'm serious). Or maybe it's because that for the first time in the aught's (is the 2010-2011 season still considered the aughts?) the 49ers expectations are high. Last year I thought they could make that leap. This year they should.
